With all of the hype surrounding The Basketball Tournament and the alumni teams, it got us thinking about what a possible Indiana basketball alumni team would look like.

The Basketball Tournament for 2019 has come and gone and saw the Ohio State alumni, Carmen’s Crew, take home the $2 million prize on Tuesday night after beating the Golden Eagles, made up of mainly Marquette alumni. Two former Indiana basketball players Remy Abell, and Mo Creek played on Team Sideline Cancer but were knocked out earlier in the tournament.

That got a lot of people thinking; what would a roster look like made up of all Indiana alumni?

Even former Hoosier Christian Watford chimed in on Twitter.

While there is no formal announcement about a possible team for next year, lets take a look at some of the names that could be in play.

First off, most of these rosters are made up of either players who are playing in Europe, players who are towards the end of their careers and are trying to make one last impression on any team to get a contract, or G-League players who are fighting to make an impression.

Guards:

For the backcourt, the Hoosiers have a lot of names that could take part in the event. Some of the names include Will Sheehey, Robert Johnson, Verdell Jones, and Nick Zeisloft. While Mo Creek has played on SLC for the past two years, if he were to be open to switching, he would make a terrific addition to the team.

WIth that backcourt, you have three very good shooters who can create spacing on the floor, but also defend on the other end of the court. The only thing they would lack, would be depth at the point guard position, but Robert Johnson could play that role behind Verdell Jones.

Another possible name could be Jordan Hulls, but with how successful he has been overseas, I’m not sure he would risk an injury playing in the event.

Forwards:

This is where the Indiana alumni team would be best and deepest. A couple names right off the bat that could be big players are Christian Watford and D.J. White. White just recently signed a new contract with Tofaş Spor Kulübü of the Turkish Basketball Super League (BSL), the highest professional league in Turkey, after averaging 13.6 points per game and 5.4 rebounds in the last two seasons.

Backing them up could be Freddie McSwain Jr, who had a nice season in the NBL winning a Championship in Canada averaging  8.5 points on 43.9 percent shooting, and 5.6 rebounds. His athleticism and rebounding would be a huge boost to the roster.

A couple of other names that could be in play would be Juwan Morgan, Max Bielfeldt, and Troy Williams.

With this roster, they should be able to make a nice run in the event since most of them played at least one season together and having chemistry already.

It’s fun to look at, and who knows if the team will come to fruition, but if it does, look out for the Hoosiers come this time next summer.
