One Indiana basketball target’s recruitment has hit a wall and not many analysts or teams know what he’s thinking.

While Indiana basketball’s 2020 recruiting class is heating up and taking steps in the right direction with multiple targets, there is one that has hit a standstill for many teams chasing the four-star talent.

2020 big man Zach Loveday has been a highly coveted recruit for most of the spring and early summer, but recently there has been very little news about his recruitment. While Loveday took an unofficial visit to Bloomington at the end of May and been a target IU has thought highly of, his recruitment is one that is very hard to read.

Ohio State is another Big Ten program that is in pursuit and one Buckeye’s 247Sports writer gave his input on Loveday.

"“It’s hard to get a read on where Loveday is at,” a basketball recruiting guru noted. “He has been to Ohio State several times. I’m not sure if the relationship has progressed or how they view him. They are recruiting his AAU teammate Jalen Bridges, so maybe they are trying to get both of them and call it a day. That would be a pretty good haul for 2020.”"

Loveday, a Gallia, Ohio, native attends Huntington Prep (WV) and plays with the aforementioned Jalen Bridges, another Indiana target, on the Wildcats Select (PA) AAU team on the Adidas Gauntlet.

While the Hoosiers are in the mix for multiple guards in the 2020 class, the front court is where they need the most help. Loveday is a 7-footer who can play inside or out but has a great ability to run the floor. There is no question the Hoosiers lacked necessary size and depth in the front court in the past couple of years and with De’Ron Davis, Joey Brunk and Trayce Jackson-Davis’ years at IU numbered, they need to haul in a replacement or two.

Loveday also holds offers from Louisville, Ohio State, Baylor, Purdue, Xavier, Iowa, Cincinnati, and Michigan amongst others. So far outside of the Indiana visit, he has taken trips to Cincinnati, and Louisville.

Loveday is ranked a four-star prospect by 247Sports and No. 79 in the 2020 class.
