The Indiana football program heads into 2019 looking to make a splash in the Big Ten but their schedule may say otherwise.

With a core group of players returning from the previous season, being paired with Indiana football’s top rated recruiting class in the history of the program, Hoosier fans can look forward to a promising season in Tom Allen’s third year as head coach.

The talk of the offseason is how close Indiana is to breaking through. Well, this year they need to and should.

However, in one of the toughest football conferences and divisions in the country, the Big Ten East, the IU football program will be tested weekly against some of the best programs in the country.

Here are the five toughest opponents the Hoosiers will face on the gridiron this season as they shoot for their first bowl game since 2016.
