One of Indiana basketball’s top 2020 targets has slowed his recruitment down by taking two more official visits, and could be SEC bound.

Right when it looked like Archie Miller and Indiana basketball were sitting in a nice position for 2020 four-star forward Matt Cross, two more official visits were scheduled to SEC schools, thus dragging out his recruitment.

The Massachusetts native has been rumored to be an Indiana lean for some time but could be seeing a change in the schools at the top following a trip to Florida last week.

Scheduled to take another official visit, his last, to Texas A&M in a couple of weeks, Cross may end up elsewhere when his recruitment is over.

Rivals recruiting analyst Corey Evans touched on the two new programs to jump in the race.

"“Much of the talk prior to his trip to Gainesville had surrounded Indiana and Miami, but it does seem as if Florida has nudged its way into the mix. Could the Aggies do just the same? They will be the only school to host him during a football weekend, which could turn the tide. Cross has become a bit fatigued by the recruiting process and will likely end things shortly after his trip to College Station.”"

As Evans touched on, A&M will have one thing none of the other schools had on their visits and that is students back on campus and the advantage of an SEC football game. I’m not saying that will sway him to Texas A&M, but that is something that is difficult to match.

Cross was a huge riser during the Nike EYBL season playing for BABC (MA) averaging 22.3 points and 9.5 rebounds in 18 games, but it hasn’t been until recently that Florida and Texas A&M have been involved.

Playing for Woodstock Academy (MA) for his first three seasons, Cross announced in the spring that he would be transferring to northeast powerhouse Brewster Academy for his senior year.

Archie Miller has put a huge priority on Cross and if he were to lose him to one of the two new SEC schools involved, it would be a hit to the 2020 recruiting class.
