Indiana Basketball: Hoosiers land first 2020 commitment with Trey Galloway
By Alec Lasley
Indiana basketball has landed their first commitment of the 2020 class with four-star in-state guard Trey Galloway.
Archie Miller and the Indiana basketball program waited patiently for months, but all the waiting paid off as 2020 guard Trey Galloway committed to Indiana on Friday afternoon. Just as he has done in his first two recruiting classes in Bloomington, Miller lands another top in-state talent.
Though Galloway didn’t have a formal list put together, Michigan State, Butler, Iowa, and Notre Dame were just a few of the schools involved in his recruitment.
Galloway, ranked No. 121 in 247Sports 2020 class, is coming off of a terrific summer on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit playing for Indiana Elite. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 16.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game this summer. While he struggled with his shot throughout his high school season due to a wrist injury, he put on a show the past couple of months as he shot nearly 40 percent from three and 61.4 percent overall.
One part of Galloway’s game that has Archie Miller so excited is his toughness. The son of a coach, Galloway not only has the toughness to compete at a high level, but also the smarts. Combing that with his athleticism, rebounding ability, and much improved scoring ability, he will be a very good four-year player for the Hoosiers.
Now all of the attention turns to his AAU teammate and fellow Indiana target Anthony Leal, who announced yesterday that Indiana and Stanford would be his two finalists. The Hoosiers are in good shape with Leal, although it wouldn’t be a complete shock if he left the state and went to Stanford.
Keep your eyes peeled to Hoosier State of Mind this weekend as we will have a full scouting report on Galloway and how he will help Indiana.
