Former Indiana basketball guard James Blackmon Jr is staying in Europe after signing a deal with another Italian club.
Another former Indiana basketball player is continuing his basketball career in Europe as James Blackmon Jr signed with another Italian club, this time with Aquila Basket Trento, who finished 17-13 last year.
It was announced a couple of days ago from the club’s twitter account and confirmed on Monday from Blackmon’s agency.
The former IU standout averaged 19.7 points, second-most in the league, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game last season while playing for Pesaro in Lega Basket Series A, the same league as Aquila Basket Trento.
Blackmon is set to join a roster that has had multiple Big Ten players in the past with Devyn Marble (Iowa) and currently former Ohio State point guard Aaron Craft.
After finishing second in Euro Cup in 2017-18, Aquila Trento took a step back last season, finishing sixth in the league. They have a combined record of 26-22 in their three seasons competing in the Euro Cup.
In the 2017-18 season, his lone year in the G-League, Blackmon averaged 14.4 points per game, appearing in 47 games for the Wisconsin Herd, before signing to play overseas.
The former five-star recruit from Marion, Indiana, played for the Hoosiers from 2014-2017 and averaged 16.1 points per game over his three seasons while sooting 43 percent from three.
The Lega Basket Serie A 2019-20 season is set to begin on September 25.
