Indiana Football: Five RBs Stevie Scott must beat out for Doak Walker Award
By Alec Lasley
Eno Benjamin (Sr; Arizona State)
We have to go out west to find the next competitor for Scott and that is Eno Benjamin from Arizona State.
Tied for fifth nationally in 2018 with 1,642 rushing yards and ninth in the country with 16 rushing touchdowns, both totals led the Pac-12 Conference.
Benjamin, though just 5-foot-10, is one of the hardest backs in the country to tackle. His 94 forced missed tackles this past season ranked third-most in the FBS. He also rushed for 81 first downs, the third most nationally.
With seven of his 13 games last year resulting in more than 25 carries, he put up 300 rushes on the season, blowing past the old school record.
Manny Wilkins is no longer the QB for the Sun Devils, as he ranked second on the team in rushes and rushing yards, so Benjamin may have to shoulder a lot of the offensive load. Though he has been able to avoid a lot of hits in his career, if that is not the case this season, his body may wear out before he has the chance to lift the trophy.
