Anthony Cowan (CG; Maryland)

Cowan’s biggest attribute to this Indiana team would be his leadership ability. Being a two-time All-Big Ten performer, his experience as a senior would do wonders for a backcourt that still has questions around their maturity and leadership.

Rob Phinisee is a terrific point guard and will have a great career at Indiana, already showing flashes of his ability, but he is only a rising sophomore and has yet to experience big time atmospheres.

In his three seasons thus far, Cowan has appeared and started in all 99 of Maryland’s games over that span, averaging 33.5 minutes per game.

Cowan has been in the NCAA Tournament in two of his three seasons and came a couple bounces away from a Sweet 16 appearance this past year.

His experience would not only be great for this Indiana roster, trying to get back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016, but also in Rob Phinisee’s development as well.
