Indiana Basketball: DJ White signs deal with Turkish team in BSL

Former Indiana basketball forward signed a deal with Tofaş Spor Kulübü to continue his professional career.

The NBA offseason is not the only professional basketball league going through free agency as we speak, and a former Indiana basketball player is signing a contract to stay overseas.

Tofaş Spor Kulübü of the Turkish Basketball Super League (BSL), the highest professional league in Turkey, announced on Wednesday that they have signed former Indiana forward D.J. White to a contract.

White had spent the last two seasons with Bahçeşehir Koleji of the BSL averaging 13.6 points per game and 5.4 rebounds. League finalists in 2017-18 of the TBL, they spent the last two seasons as part of the BSL.

For Tofaş Spor Kulübü, they were runner ups of the BSL in 2017-18 and will be in their fourth season in the league in 2019-20.

One of White’s new teammates will be a familiar face for Big Ten basketball fans as he joins Travis Trice who played for Michigan State from 2011-15.

White spent four seasons in Bloomington from 2004-08 and averaged 14.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in 99 career appearances.

Drafted with the 29th pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, White bounced around the league for seven years, playing in 198 games for three teams. His best year was his rookie seasons as he put up 8.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for the Oklahoma City Thunder. He last played in the NBA in the 2013-14 seasons for the Charlotte Bobcats.
