Indiana basketball could be looking at their first commitment in the 2020 class by the end of the summer.

While the Indiana basketball program has kept close tabs on the top prospects in-state for the 2020 class, it could be an out of state target that becomes the first commitment for Archie Miller in 2020.

Matt Cross (Beverly, MA) has had a busy past couple of months and has seen his recruitment blow up with his play for BABC in the spring on the Nike EYBL AAU circuit.

Indiana offered the 6-foot-7 forward in April after being a frequent visitor to his games since January and quickly became a favorite for Cross. Now, his recruitment seems to be winding down as he told Rivals.com that he plans on an August commitment.

Cross has taken four official visits up to this point to Indiana, Butler, Miami (FL), and South Carolina. Because only one of them, Miami (FL), has come during his designated senior year, he still has an opportunity for four more to reach the maximum of five visits. While he is still debating on other visits, it seems to be a three team race between Indiana, Miami (FL), and South Carolina.

Indiana and Cross do seem like a match in terms of needing a skillset that Cross can provide.  A stretch-four who can shoot the ball and create much needed floor spacing on the offensive end, Cross’ possible addition would fill a role that the Hoosiers currently don’t have. De’Ron Davis, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Joey Brunk, and Race Thompson are the four players who seem to have the front court rotation locked up for 2019, and none of them have shown a great ability to be a consistent threat from three.

Cross recently transferred from Woodstock Academy to northeastern powerhouse Brewster Academy ahead of his senior season.

Cross is ranked as a four-star prospect at No. 88 overall in the 2020 class according to 247Sports.
