The Indiana athletic department and university released a statement on how the Hoosiers would be honoring the Bicentennial year in 2019-20.

Indiana’s Athletic Director and Vice President Fred Glass announced earlier this week a variety of ways the Indiana athletic program will participate in honoring Indiana University’s Bicentennial year, which started on Monday.

"“I am honored to be the steward of IU Athletics during the 200th anniversary of the founding of Indiana University, my alma mater,” Glass said. “IU Athletics is proud to participate in the Bicentennial commemoration and will do so in a way that is worthy of our world-class university.”"

The University and athletic program will honor the event in multiple ways including Bicentennial uniform logos amongst all sports teams. The Bicentennial logo will make its debut for the first athletic event of the season which is the women’s soccer exhibition on August 10 against Indiana State.

In addition, one football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball home game will be designated as its official “Bicentennial” game. The Indiana football team will wear a special Bicentennial uniform for its game, while a court projection will be in place for the men’s and women’s basketball games.

It is unclear which games will be designated for the Bicentennial game at this point however.

Last year, the Indiana basketball program designated a specific game to Black History Month in which they wore special throwback jerseys. This was honoring the 70th anniversary of Bill Garrett breaking through as the first black player to start a Big Ten basketball game.
