Indiana Basketball: 2020 target considering reclassifying to 2021
By Alec Lasley
One of Indiana basketball’s targets in the 2020 class is considering reclassifying to the 2021 class and taking a prep year.
While the Indiana basketball staff remains busy recruiting some of the top talent in the 2020 class, one of their targets is considering reclassifying to 2021.
Elijah Hutchins-Everett, 247Sports No. 77 ranked player in their composite rankings, told Adam Zagoria that a move to the 2021 class is a real possibility for him.
"“I might reclass to the Class of 2021 but if I have a good season this year, I’ll stay the Class of 2020 and I’ll go straight to college,”"
After transferring to the Miller School from Immaculate Conception, Hutchins-Everett was listed as a 2021 recruit at the Mid-Atlantic Independent Schools Shootout over the weekend.
Indiana is one of several schools recruiting the big man up to this point along with Marquette, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, Rutgers, and Syracuse amongst others.
As for Indiana, he had this to say about their message to him.
"“Same way, they are looking for a big that can help spread the floor and rebound.”"
As it stands now, a move to the 2021 class could help the Hoosiers with their pitch. Indiana is losing just De’Ron Davis in 2020 but will then be without Justin Smith and Joey Brunk, with the possibility of Trayce Jackson-Davis, in 2021 meaning there would be many available minutes right away.
For now, Hutchins-Everett still has not put together a timeline for any visits.
