Indiana Basketball: How Romeo Langford fits with the Boston Celtics
By Alec Lasley
Former Indiana basketball guard Romeo Langford was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the 2019 NBA Draft. Here’s how he fits into their system.
On Thursday night, former Indiana basketball guard Romeo Langford heard his name called by the Boston Celtics, beginning his NBA career.
Becoming the sixth Hoosier to be drafted into the Boston Celtics organization, Langford had this to say in his post draft press conference.
"“It’s a really good, historic organization,” Langford said Thursday night in his post-draft press conference. “They’re coming off a real good year, making the playoffs and doing well in the playoffs. I feel like the team they have, everybody is real versatile. They play position-less basketball and that’s what I excel at.”"
Langford now joins one of the most talented and youngest cores in the league, playing alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Celtics Head Coach Brad Stevens called Langford the “perfect fit” for the team, and with a lot of uncertainty surrounding the roster this offseason, he has the chance to make an impact immediately.
With his thumb injury almost entirely healed, after having surgery at the end of his freshman season, fans will get their first look at Langford in the NBA Summer League that takes place in Vegas from July 5-15.
