NBA Draft: Romeo Langford looks to carry on the tradition of the Boston Celtics

Former Indiana basketball guard Romeo Langford selected No. 14 overall by the Boston Celtics in the 2019 NBA Draft.

On a special night for all of the new NBA talent entering the league, Indiana basketball saw their freshman guard in Romeo Langford drafted 14th overall by the Boston Celtics, the last pick of the lottery.

Becoming the 26th all-time first round draft choice from Indiana, Langford looks to make an immediate impact this season.

After a couple of injuries contributed to him slipping in the NBA Draft, the former top-five recruit will now take the next step in his basketball career.

The 6-foot-6 guard was the fourth shooting guard off of the board after averaging 16.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 32 games during his lone season in Bloomington.

During his interview with ESPN’s Maria Taylor, after hearing his name called, he had this to say,

"“I know what I’m capable of doing,” Langford said. “I’ve  been doing it for a long time so my confidence was always there.”"

Langford was one of the most scrutinized prospects in the 2019 draft class, with questions about his shooting, his effort, his drive, and more, but teammates and coaches always had his back.

Despite a lot of the questions about his game, he had an extremely successful freshman season at Indiana. He finished a Second Team All-Big Ten selection, led all Big Ten freshman in scoring, third highest scoring averaging amongst major conference freshman, and had the third most points ever by an Indiana freshman.

Langford now joins up with a couple of guys with Indiana routes in former Butler coach Brad Stevens and Butler forward Gordon Hayward.
