Most Likely: Harrison Barnes

While many people may get headaches over this comparison because of Barnes’ performance in the final three games of the 2016 NBA Finals, you tend to forget his overall ability.

Coming out of North Carolina, Barnes was much like Langford. They both came into college tapped as one of the next great stars and somewhat underwhelmed at times in their college careers.

Don’t get me wrong, their games aren’t totally similar, but they are similar enough to make this comparison. Both are very good coming off of ball screens, and having an ability to use their body to shield off the defender to get their shot off from 15 feet.

Whereas the other two comparisons I made for Langford are slightly more athletic, Barnes brings in a little less athleticism but makes up for it with his shot creation. Whether it be a turnaround on the block, a stepback jumper or a couple dribble pull-up, he is very similar to Langford in those areas.

I can also see Langford’s career going very similar to that of Barnes. A fourth option on the Warriors where he still averaged 10 points a game, Barnes has turned into a 17-point per game wing in his three years with the Mavericks and Kings.

While I don’t see Langford being a big time scorer for the majority of his first couple of years in the NBA, I can see him developing like Barnes did, eventually becoming a more dominant scorer as his career goes on.
