The Indiana football quarterback is coming off of his first full year as the starter and looks to take the Hoosiers back to a Bowl game in 2019.

Athlon Sports continues to release their yearly rankings, this time including Indiana football’s Peyton Ramsey in the top 50 of their starting quarterback rankings.

Ramsey is ranked No. 43 on the list and comes in at eighth in the Big Ten. Here is what Steven Lassan had to say about the Indiana starter:

"“Indiana has quietly assembled a deep and talented quarterback room for new play-caller Kalen DeBoer to deploy in 2019. In addition to Ramsey, Michael Penix is back after playing in three games as a true freshman last fall, and the Hoosiers added Jack Tuttle – a four-star prospect in the 2018 signing class – as a transfer from Utah. Ramsey finished ’18 with 2,875 passing yards and 19 touchdowns to 13 picks and added 354 yards and five scores on the ground. Additionally, Ramsey’s completion percentage (66.0) tied for second among Big Ten quarterbacks last season.”"

Despite his solid play last season, Ramsey will have to take a big step forward in order to lead the Hoosiers to the season that a lot of fans and people around the program are expecting.

With new offensive coordinator Kalen DeBoer, a big season could be in play for the redshirt junior. DeBoer has always shown his ability to have one of the biggest passing attacks in the country at whatever program he has been at, and looks to do the exact same at Indiana.

While Ramsey has never shown an ability to consistently connect with his receivers on the deep ball, it is something that he will have to do this season. With names like Nick Westbrook, Donavan Hale, Ty Fryfogle, and Whop Philyor, the skill on the outside is there for Indiana, now it’s up to Ramsey to get them the ball.

Ramsey has seven games of over 300 yards in a game in his career and it wouldn’t shock me if he hits the 300-yard mark in multiple games this season.
