No. 4: 2001-2002 (25-12; NCAA Finals)

In one of the most memorable runs to the National Championship game, the Hoosiers, a five-seed, took down the No. 1 ranked Duke Blue Devils in the Sweet 16 in one of the more intense NCAA games in recent history.

Facing Maryland in the Title game, their cinderella run came to an end with a 64-52 loss.

Though there turned out to be no NBA “stars”, the Hoosiers were led by Jared Jeffries and Tom Coverdale that season.

During that season, Jeffries averaged 15.0 points per game, 7.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and shot 38 percent from three. Coverdale chipped in 11.9 points and 4.8 assists per game

Though this was far from the most talented group, they played some of the best team basketball, thus leading them to the National Title game.

Names like Dan Fife and A.J. Moye, who were on the roster, played significant roles on every Indiana roster they were a part of, even if they didn’t have the role of being a dominant scorer.
