The state of Indiana has produced some of the best talent in the country, but not everyone has come through the Indiana basketball program. Here are the top in-state recruiting misses for the Hoosiers since 2000.

With Bob Knight at the helm, almost every Indiana Mr. Basketball committed to the Indiana basketball program, but after he left, things have become shaky in the in-state recruiting.

While Archie Miller has restored that idea, signing the past two Indiana Mr. Basketball’s in his first two seasons at Indiana, these have been the first two since 2011.

Even more, Miller has won the recruiting battle for nearly every in-state recruit he has gone after.

Over the past 20 years, seven Mr. Basketball’s from Indiana have decided to stay home. With such a prestigious program, that is unheard of when you think of what Indiana has prided themselves on in their history.

You think of some of the big names that have come out of the state of Indiana, and how disappointing it is to see them go to an out of state school, or even a rival in Purdue, with a lot less history and prestige.

Names like Sean May, Tyler Zeller, Gary Harris, DeShaun Thomas, and Zak Irvin all went on to win Indiana Mr. Basketball and decided to play elsewhere and out of state.

While the Duo of Mike Conley and Greg Oden went out of state to play their college ball, they were an Ohio State lean for almost the entirety of their recruitment.

Most recently, Indiana went right down to the wire with Keion Brooks, ultimately losing out to Kentucky.

With that, here are the top five in-state misses since 2000, since Bob Knight left the head seat as the Indiana Basketball head coach.
