Indiana Football: New complex hopes to be first step towards future success
By Alec Lasley
One of the main attractions to recruits are up-to-date locker rooms, and the Indiana football program hopes their new complex lures recruits.
Released the other day, the Indiana football program is bringing some updates to the locker room and football complex.
Tweeted out from the Indiana football account, the clips gave fans and future recruits a sneak peak at what’s to come.
Though, at the moment, there is no specific date set for the new complex to be completed, it is an intriguing recruiting tool for Tom Allen and the rest of the Indiana staff.
Nowadays, while program fit is important for recruits, how they look and how the locker room and facilities look is what may be the bigger draw.
The Hoosiers who have just pulled in the best recruiting class in program history in 2019, is looking for that class to be the building block for the future. Now with a very modern and up-to-date football complex, it could be the start of building a program that competes atop the Big Ten every single year.
Every year the discussion is ‘how do these schools have enough money to build these million dollar facilities, but can’t pay athletes’ but again, the facilities win out.
Some of the top facilities in the country go hand-in-hand with success.
Clemson just upgraded all of their facilities, spending a cool $55 million. Their complex has been featured on ESPN, Business Insider and many more outlets.
Obviously what comes to mind first when it comes to lucrative facilities is Oregon. With their connection to Nike, they always have some of the best facilities and/or jerseys that have been able to attract top flight recruits in the past.
Though I’m not saying the Hoosiers will become the next Clemson or Oregon, it is a start in the right direction in investing into the football program, and that’s what recruits want to see.
