Indiana Basketball: Top 2021 prospect planning another Indiana visit?
By Alec Lasley
One of the top prospects in the country in the 2021 class is interested in taking another visit to Bloomington as the Indiana basketball program is one of many suitors.
A program altering prospect, Terrence Clarke is one of the best players in the 2021 class and could even be one of the best players in all high school classes at the moment.
Ranked No. 2 in the 2021 class in 247Sports composite rankings, Clarke has many offers from top flight programs.
In the mix along with Indiana is Kentucky, UConn, Memphis, Providence, and Kansas, amongst many others.
One of the first programs to offer Clarke, Indiana remains high on his list, as he has already been to campus two times, more than any other school. Though both were unofficial visits, Clarke can start taking official visits as his junior season approaches. As of now, Kentucky is the only other school to receive an unofficial visit, which he took in October of 2018.
His visits coming in October of 2017 and then September of 2018, Peegs.com Drew Davis tweeted out Clarke’s intentions to make another trip to Bloomington. Though there hasn’t been any information given to the public in regards to a date, it wouldn’t shock me if it is sometime during the season.
At 6-foot-6, Clarke is a versatile guard who can do just about everything on the offensive end.
Playing for Expressions Elite (MA) on the Nike EYBL D1 Circuit, he is averaging 17.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from three. Already this season in eight games, he has scoring outputs of both 24 points and 26 points.
One of the most explosive athletes in the entire country, Clarke is already primed as a potential No. 1 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
Here is what 247Sports’ Jerry Meyer, Director of Basketball Scouting, said about Clarke’s game.
"Has a long, wiry physique for a shooting guard with quality athleticism. Can be explosive but also has tremendous body control. His court vision and feel for the game are off the charts. Tremendous passer. Good ball handler who loves to go left and utilizes changes of speed. Can score in multiple ways. Jump shot is consistently improving. Plays with energy and comes up with loose balls and rebounds outside his area. Also is a multi positional defender. A potential No.1 pick in the draft."
His recruitment is definitely one to follow as an Indiana fan, but it is worth noting the possibility of the NBA and NCAA changing the age in which a prospect can enter the NBA Draft, as Clarke could be in position for that if the change were to come.
