Indiana basketball is shifting its focus to the front court in the 2020 class, with an emerging prospect you need to know.

While the Indiana basketball program has been deeply rooted in the possible backcourt options in the 2020 class, there is an interesting name that keeps popping up in relation to the Hoosiers.

Elijah Hutchins-Everett is one of the most improved players in the 2020 class after rising up 50 spots in the newest 247Sports rankings. Now ranked No. 64 in the country, Hutchins-Everett has been connected to Indiana multiple times in the spring.

Though not formally offered a scholarship, the communication and mutual interest is there between the two parties. Per The Daily Hoosier and 247Sports, Indiana has been “extremely active recently” and that Hutchins-Everett is “very interested” in Indiana.

At 6-foot-11, he is one of the better rebounders in the class and has an improving offensive game as well. So far on the Nike EYBL circuit this spring, Hutchins-Everett is averaging 11.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

What makes this an interesting match is the availability in the front court for the 2020 season.

Despite bringing in graduate transfer Joey Brunk, who will be eligible for two years, the Hoosiers will lose De’Ron Davis and are faced with the possibility of McDonald’s All-American Trayce Jackson-Davis having an exceptional year and leaving early. With a lack of depth and unproven bigs behind them, Hutchins-Everett would be able to see the floor early and often if he were to come to Bloomington.

The New Jersey native has multiple high major offers, but is being recruited most heavily by Syracuse, Pitt, Seton Hall and Notre Dame. Indiana, however, may be a ‘frontrunner’ if the relationship continues to develop and ultimately leads to an offer, which is the way it seems to be going.

With multiple scholarship spots expected in the 2020 class, Hutchins-Everett is a name to keep an eye on as his recruitment heats up with Indiana.
