Indiana Basketball: Rising 2020 target for Hoosiers schedules official visit
By Alec Lasley
One of the top prospects for Indiana basketball has scheduled an official visit off of another impressive weekend on the Nike EYBL circuit.
Seemingly all but done with their 2019 recruiting class, Archie Miller and the rest of the Indiana basketball staff have turned their full attention to the 2020 class.
After another impressive weekend for Matt Cross, he told Jeff Rabjohns of Peegs.com that he will be taking an official visit to Bloomington. The visit is scheduled for May 31, according to Rivals.com.
The Massachusetts native plays for Woodstock Academy in Connecticut and runs with BABC on the Nike EYBL circuit.
A three-star forward on 247Sports Composite rankings, he is one of the guys making a huge impact through the first couple of weeks of the AAU season.
At 6-foot-7, Cross has a very versatile skillset that allows him to play in the post or around the three-point line. Additionally, he has a great passing touch and ball handling ability that allows him to control the ball in the open floor.
This weekend was another impressive couple of days for Cross as he averaged 22.8 points and 9.0 rebounds a game, including three double-doubles in four games.
With little help on the BABC roster, Cross has been tasked with a lot of the scoring, rebounding, and playmaking responsibility. Allowing defenses to hone in on him, his shooting percentages have dipped a bit, shooting just 37 percent from the field and 29 percent from three so far in his eight EYBL games. Shooting 82 percent from the free throw line though, you can see the shooting touch is there.
Aside from Indiana, Cross is hearing from Penn State, UMass, UConn, Butler, and Cincinnati, in addition to a handful of other teams. As of now though, his recruitment is very much in the midwest and northeast.
With his trip to Bloomington being his first official visit, Cross has the Hoosiers high on his list.
