4. What will the best lineup be?

A benefit to having a deep team with no clear leader is that it provides for a tremendous amount of flexibility with lineups.

This roster is bursting with potential lineups, and the coaching staff will have to experiment to determine which best suites the team.

An example: say the coaches desire a mix of talent and experience, so they go with this lineup:

PG: Rob Phinisee

SG: Devonte Green

SF: Al Durham

PF: Trayce Jackson-Davis

C: De’ron Davis

Not only does this lineup have three guys that can playmake and be a main ball-handler, but the twin-tower tandem of TJD and De’Ron Davis could make for a menacing duo down low.

Say, however, that the coach’s want to try a more athletic lineup that can guard effectively and space the floor:

PG: Rob Phinisee

SG: Devonte Green/Al Durham

SF: Justin Smith/Al Durham

PF: Jerome Hunter/Justin Smith

C: Trayce-Jackson Davis

Now you have a lineup that is athletic, talented, can offer more three point shooting, and defend multiple positions at a higher level.

I do this to show just two of the many different lineups which Archie Miller has at his disposal. It will be up to analytics and trial-and-error testing to determine which lineup is the best for IU next year, but the possibilities are endless.
