Indiana basketball was one of two programs in to visit this 2019 four-star forward on Tuesday.

A day after visiting three prospects in the northeast, Indiana basketball was once again represented at another visit.

One of two programs in to see 2019 four-star forward Donovan Johnson, the Pitt Panthers and Jeff Capel were also in attendance.

Ranked a four-star prospect by 247Sports Composite rankings, Johnson is the No. 129 ranked player in the class.

Not far away from where Archie Miller grew up, Johnson plays for Moon Area High, and is receiving a lot of interest from high-major programs.

Offers from Arizona, Penn State, Pitt, and Xavier, Indiana has now entered the mix of schools who have interest.

A 6-foot-9 wing, Johnson averaged 22.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 blocks this past season for Moon high, leading them to a Class 5A State Title.

The brother of former North Carolina forward, Cameron Johnson, Donovan possesses many of the same tools that has made Cam into a potential first-round draft pick.

An extremely crafty finisher, Johnson is a lefty who can score in multiple ways. With a soft touch around the rim, he can finish through contact, in the mid-range and even has a floater in his arsenal. Having the ability to stretch his game out past the three-point line, he is most effective slashing in the lane.

With his senior year ahead of him, there is a question mark surrounding his eligibility though.

According to paperwork submitted to the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) board, Johnson has already played six seasons between his time at Moon, Rhema Christian Academy and OLSH high schools. Under PIAA rules, an athlete who repeats a grade can be granted a seventh season if that student can demonstrate a hardship, and have played no more than 25 percent of his basketball team’s regular-season games in that repeated year.

Johnson is an intriguing prospect, who keeps rising up recruiting ranks, to keep an eye on over the course of the next year, especially since the Hoosiers lack scoring and depth on the wing.
