Former Indiana basketball standout Juwan Morgan impressed at the Portsmouth Invitational in front of many NBA scouts.
In what was the only other time outside of the NBA Combine for players to showcase their sills in front of numerous NBA scouts, former Indiana basketball standout Juwan Morgan shined at the Portsmouth Invitational over the weekend.
A four-day event that allows non-lottery players, most being fringe draftees, an extra chance to impress NBA scouts, Morgan averaged 14.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and shot 48.6 percent from the field.
On the Sales System LTD roster for the event, they made it all the way to the Championship game before falling to the Portsmouth Partnership team.
In the Championship game, Morgan finished with 18 points and eight rebounds in the 90-81 loss, as his game was on full display.
Also on the Sales System LTD roster was JaKeenan Gant (Louisiana), Jessie Govan (Georgetown), Tyler Hall (Montana State), Daquan Jeffries (Tulsa), Jeremiah Martin (Memphis), Justin Robinson (Virginia Tech), and Quinndary Weatherspoon (Mississippi State).
Morgan’s team went 2-1 over the course of the tournament.
A two-time All-Big Ten performer, Morgan averaged 15.5 points and 8.2 rebounds this past season and led the team in blocks (54) and steals (41). Morgan moved into the top 25 all-time Indiana basketball scoring list this year as well, with 1,374 career points.
As of now, most mock drafts have Morgan projected to go undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft, but he does have the possibility of sneaking into the second round with good workouts, and this week definitely helped his cause.
