Indiana basketball met with Anthony Harris over the weekend in hopes of getting him on campus for a visit, and ultimately a commitment.

Archie Miller and Indiana basketball continue to stay very active with the 2019 class, both with transfers and still uncommitted prospects.

Over the weekend, Miller was one of seven representatives from high major programs to meet with 2019 guard Anthony Harris.

Harris, a 2019 four-star recruit, was originally committed to Virginia Tech, but after Buzz Williams left the Hokies’ program for Texas A&M, he de-committed and ultimately reopened his recruitment.

Ranked 66th in the country by 247Sports Composite rankings, Harris was originally recruited by Indiana before his Virginia Tech commitment but the Hoosiers were unable to secure an official visit from the combo guard, basically sealing their fate in his recruitment.

This time though, they hope to get him on campus.

Losing Romeo Langford has opened up a lot of playing time and scoring opportunity in Indiana’s backcourt. Already having an official visit scheduled for four-star guard Lester Quinones, set for April 24-26, and an unofficial from another four-star guard in Harlond Beverly, Harris now joins the mix of potential backcourt replacements.

At 6-foot-3 and 180-pounds, Harris is a combo guard, known for his ability on the defensive end of the court, using his athleticism, length and anticipation to his advantage. A perfect fit for Archie Miller’s system, Harris would be a contributor immediately with his ability to defend and get out in transition.

Very similar to Devonte Green, Harris has the ability to play the lead guard but has a better feel off the ball. Slightly bigger and more athletic than Green, he likes to draw as much contact as he can while playing from the mid-range and in. Though he has the ability to knock down open shots, his jumpshot is still a work in progress at this stage.

Though shooting is a need for Indiana, securing more skill and better talent is the main concern. Harris would be a terrific replacement and be able to give Archie Miller the option at playing him in multiple positions.
