The Indiana football program secured another commitment for the 2020 class, with in-state commit Luke Wiginton.

Luke Wiginton joins the Hoosier’s 2020 class as the second in-state prospect to commit for Coach Allen.

Wiginton hails from Indiana High school powerhouse Bishop Dwenger where he was teammates with Wisconsin’s 2019 signee Joe Tippmann. Wiginton comes in a three star by Rivals and unranked by 247 sports currently. I see that changing once his senior year starts.

Already a Big Ten body with a 6-foot-5 and 275-pound frame, he can match up with some of the Big Ten’s best. In high school, he was mainly utilized as a right tackle in a run-heavy offense. He comes off the whistle with tenacity and is determined to dominate his opponents every time.

Often times the defender ends up on his back watching the ball carrier darting past. Even though he was in a predominantly running offense, Wiginton shows promising pass blocking ability. He keeps a sturdy broad base and can match the speed of the oncoming pass rushers. With time under college coaching, his pass blocking will only improve and start to become a better part of his game.

Wiginton will enter Bloomington with an Indiana lineup that will be losing three offensive linemen next season with Coy Cronk being one of them.

With the left tackle spot open next year, he could contend for the starting spot early. If he is able to come in as an early enrollee and getting time under Coach Ballou, I could see a 300-pound frame by the fall. With a bigger frame, he could still dominate defenders on the run and contend well against the pass rush. With his build and ability that he brings, he reminds me of former Hoosier Jason Spriggs who is currently a Green Bay Packer.

Coach Allen knows to win in the Big Ten, he needs big, athletic and aggressive guys to dominate the trenches. Only time will tell if Wiginton will be a viable option as a true freshman for the left tackle spot.
