Assertiveness

Again, I want to say that I don’t think Romeo Langford is a soft player or a lazy player. However, scorers as talented as Romeo usually are not as reserved on offense as he is. There were times where Indiana desperately needed a bucket, and Langford seemed either completely unwilling or unable to come through for them.

There is not a single truly great scorer in the NBA that lacks assertiveness. There are, however, plenty of good scorers who thrive as second-fiddles i.e. Klay Thompson, Ben Simmons, Khris Middleton (Klay Thompson is a great scorer, but he’s also perfectly okay with taking five shots a game for the Warriors).

Romeo Langford has the scoring instincts and talent to be a main scoring option in the NBA if he reaches the peak of his potential.

As long as he maintains his current level of assertiveness, I think he is selling himself short of being great. In order to really reach his ceiling, he needs to amp up this kind of mentality.

Pointing at a man you just crossed to the floor– that’s an alpha dog move.
