The Indiana women’s basketball team took down Texas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, advancing to play Oregon on Sunday.

The 10 seeded Indiana women’s basketball team upset the seventh seeded Texas Longhorns in the first round, 69-65, to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Indiana, who led 23-12 after the first quarter, were held to just six points and outscored by 14 in the second quarter. They responded great after halftime, outscoring the Longhorns by 12 in the second half to hold on.

Sophomore guard Jaelynn Penn led the way for the Hoosiers as she poured in a game-high 24 points, while Bendu Yeaney added 17 along with a team-high six rebounds in a homecoming game for the Portland native.

Head coach Teri Moren has now seemingly cemented herself as the best head coach in Indiana women’s program history as she has now collected two of the three wins for Indiana in the NCAA Tournament, to go along with having two of the six NCAA Tournaments appearances coming under her.

Now, Indiana turns their attention to the two-seeded hometown Oregon Ducks, which will take place on Sunday at 9:00 pm.

The Ducks took down Portland State easily, winning 78-40, holding the Vikings to less than 10 points in two quarters.
