Indiana basketball star freshman Romeo Langford will miss tonight’s game against St. Francis (Pa) in their NIT opener.

Romeo Langford, Indiana basketball’s star freshman guard, will miss tonight’s NIT opener against St. Francis (Pa) due to a back injury, per sources.

In what seems to be an injury suffered in the Big Ten tournament game against Ohio State, both Langford and Archie Miller said it was a minor issue and that all signs pointed to him playing.

In the last 24 hours though, that has seemed to change.

A projected top-10 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Langford has averaged 16.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game this season.

There had been a lot of talk surrounding Langford and whether or not he would participate in the NIT or sit out and start to get prepared for the draft in June. As of now, it doesn’t seem that is the case, and this is an injury that they would rather rest.

This wouldn’t be uncommon though as Daniel Gafford, a projected lottery pick in the upcoming draft, announced earlier this week that he would be skipping the NIT and leave Arkansas to get ready for the draft.

Indiana, who missed out on the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season this year, will begin their quest for a deep postseason run when they take the floor tonight at 7:00 pm on ESPN.

The last time the Hoosiers participated in the NIT, they lost in the first round to Georgia Tech in 2017.
