Indiana Basketball: Trayce Jackson-Davis named Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year

Indiana basketball signee Trayce Jackson-Davis was named Indiana’s Gatorade Player of the Year, per release today.
The awards continue to rack up for the Indiana basketball signee, Trayce Jackson-Davis, as he was named the Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year for 2018-2019.
Announced today, the award recognizes a player for not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and their character demonstrated on and off the field and court.
Because of this honor, he is now in the running for the National Gatorade Player of the Year Award which will be announced later in March.
The 6-foot-9 big man led Center Grove to a 21-8 record and a berth in the Class 4A state semifinals, taking place this weekend. Jackson-Davis is averaging 21.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.9 blocks, and 1.7 assists through 29 games this season.
Also announced as an All-American earlier this year, Jackson-Davis joins current Hoosier Romeo Langford who received both honors last year.
Per the release, the Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one winner in each state that sanctions high school football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, baseball, softball, and boys and girls track & field, and awards one National Player of the Year in each sport.
Jackson-Davis will enter Indiana next year as one of the most decorated players in the country, ranked the no. 18 overall recruit in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
