Indiana basketball target Keion Brooks announces his commitment to the University of Kentucky, over the Hoosiers, Michigan State Spartans, and North Carolina Tar Heels.

Announced live on CBS Sports HQ, Keion Brooks announced his commitment to the Kentucky Wildcats and John Calipari.

Down between Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan State and North Carolina, Brooks decided to leave his hometown state of Indiana and head south to Lexington.

The five-star recruit joins two more five-stars in point guard Tyrese Maxey, who is another lifelong friend of Brooks, and wing Kahlil Whitney, the no. 7 player in the 2019 class, as well as four-star wing Dontaie Allen.

Brooks’ commitment to Kentucky also moves their recruiting class from no. 11 up to no. 2 according to 247Sports, behind Arizona.

One of the first players in the 2019 class to receive a scholarship offer from Kentucky, Brooks always had the Wildcats among his top schools since.

Though nothing leaked out to the public about his decision, most recruiting analysts expected the 6-foot-8 forward to be heading to Kentucky in the days leading up to his announcement.

One of the biggest turning points in his recruitment seemed to be an impromptu trip to Lexington on Feb 16.

Where does this leave the Hoosiers? They still have five-star center Trayce Jackson-Davis, who was named Indiana’s Gatorade Player of the Year for 2018-19, and Armaan Franklin in their 2019 class. Still in the hunt for a handful of other recruits in the class, look for Indiana to land another prospect before the fall.
