Indiana Basketball: Hoosiers make the cut for 2019 four star big man
By Alec Lasley
Four-star big man in the 2019 class, Tre Mitchell, has included Indiana basketball in his final list of six schools.
The Indiana basketball program still remains heavily involved in the recruitment of the 2019 class.
Tre Mitchell, a four-star big man, announced his final six schools last night via his twitter.
With Indiana, on his list is Syracuse, Providence, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and UMass.
The 6-foot-9 center was rumored to move back to the 2020 class, but he also announced that he has decided to stay in the 2019 recruiting class, making him a prized late addition for any one of the remaining six schools.
Playing at Woodstock Academy in Pittsburgh, Mitchell had a recent visit from the coaching staff to watch one of his games, putting up 24 points on 5-for-7 from three, six rebounds and for assists.
Ranked 81st in the country according to 247Sports Composite rankings, he has a much improved outside game after dropping nearly 40 pounds coming into this season. Now a more versatile skillset, Mitchell has great hands, size, and strength that gives him a great back-to-the-basket game as well.
While UMass seems to have the edge in his recruitment now, a 71 percent chance of landing him according to the 247 Crystal ball, the fact that Indiana made his final list after coming in very late to the recruitment does bode well.
Not making a decision any time soon, look for Mitchell’s recruitment to be wrapped up sometime in April.
