Indiana baseball continues to ride high after their good weekend performance by having Matt Gorski collect Big Ten Player of the Week honors.

Despite their game against Indiana State getting postponed from today, Indiana baseball remains in the news.

Junior outfielder Matt Gorski received big honors today, continuing to add to his already great Indiana resume, after being named Big Ten Player of the Week for last week.

In five games, Gorski batted .400 with eight hits, nine RBI’s, and three home runs, leading Indiana to a 4-1 record on the week.

His highlight of the week was going 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI’s against No. 21 UCONN in the Coastal Carolina Tournament.

Gorski, who has been a consistent face on base all season, has four multi-hit games including a hit in all but one game.

Overall on the season, the preseason All-American is leading the team in batting average (.344), hits (11), home runs (4), and RBI’s (12), despite missing three games. His home run total also ranks in the top 30 nationally.

Shooting up draft boards, Gorski has been a projected first round draft pick in a few mock drafts already, with a lot of time left in his college career.

Indiana turns their attention to the Safeco Field Tournament this weekend where they will face Washington, Oregon State, and San Diego, looking to pick up a few more quality non-conference wins.

The Hoosiers will be on the road until March 15, when Canisius comes to Bloomington for a three game series.
