Indiana Basketball: Sage Steele calls out Hoosiers’ fans
By Alec Lasley
Hoosiers’ fans get called out on twitter from prominent alum following Indiana basketball’s upset over No. 19 Wisconsin.
Despite Indiana basketball’s great win last night against fellow Big Ten foe, Wisconsin, one prominent Indiana alum called out the fan base for leaving early.
Sage Steele, host for the 6 pm SportsCenter show, took to twitter to let the fans know how she felt about the empty seats.
Most fans started to slowly file out during the first overtime segment as well as before the second overtime period started. At this point it was around 11:30-12:00 pm, and being on a work/school night it is understandable why some of the older fan base would leave to get home, but there were still many other fans who left as well. Something to note, is it was midterm week for most Indiana students.
As she said in her tweets, every game from now on is a must win for Indiana to keep their slim NCAA Tournament hopes alive, and the Assembly Hall home court advantage is like no other, so having as many fans packed in there for the entire game is a must.
Those who stuck around for the end of the game saw Romeo Langford hit the game-winner with 0.8 seconds left.
Indiana turns their attention to No. 6 Michigan State on Saturday, a team they beat a couple of weeks ago in East Lansing. With it being on a Saturday, expect many more fans to be there from the start.
