Cons: Offensive Struggles

Let’s not sugar coat it- the offense has been horrendous. You can make all the arguments you want about the team playing hard the last couple of games and that they are a team who will win with defense, but Indiana can’t put the ball in the hole. It’s really hard to win when you can’t do that.

It’s obvious, Miller doesn’t play through his best players as much as he should.

Juwan Morgan’s touches are way down the last few games, and Romeo Langford is expected to make his own offense. He is never given a screen, or told to flare to the middle; he has to handle things through the iso.

The offensive system right now ignores the team’s strengths, such as Langford’s midrange game, Justin Smith’s finishing at the rim, De’ron Davis’ passing, and Morgan’s post ups. It is a popular opinion amongst critics that a coach that can’t utilize a top 5 NBA draft pick won’t be able to do any better in the future with less talented players. Perhaps they are right.
