The preseason NCAA Tournament seedings came out over the weekend, and the Indiana baseball program comes in as a 3 seed.

First year head coach Jeff Mercer inherits a team that went 40-19 (14-9) last season, before losing in the NCAA Regionals, and expect to make another deep run this season.

Baseball American came out with their projected NCAA Tournament field with the Indiana Hoosiers seeded on the 3 line in the Clemson, South Carolina region.

The Hoosiers are projected to finish third in the Big Ten behind Minnesota and Michigan, who is projected to win the conference.

With five players on the roster ranked in the top 20 Big Ten pro prospects, two more than any other team, Indiana has the skill to make a deep postseason run.

Matt Gorski, a third team All-American preseason selection, leads that group, ranked as the top pro prospect in the conference.

Indiana has made the NCAA Tournament in five out of the last six years, including making it all of the way to the College World Series back in 2013.

Not only are the Hoosiers returning a lot of the talent from last year, but Jeff Mercer could be the voice in the dugout that takes them to the next level, as he was recently named the no. 5 coach in the country under the age of 40.

The Indiana Hoosiers get their season started on Feb 15, when they start a three game series on the road against the Memphis Tigers.
