Indiana Basketball: Late game execution hurts Hoosiers in loss
By Alec Lasley
Indiana basketball falls 55-52 on Sunday to Ohio State, losing nine of their last ten games.
In almost a must win game for the Hoosiers, Indiana falls 55-52 to the Ohio State Buckeyes, losing nine out of their last 10 games.
After a 14-5 run tied the game for Indiana with a minute left in the game, the Hoosiers’ failed execution in the final few possessions led to the loss.
Led by Andre Wesson with 15 points, including the game winning dunk, the Buckeyes shot 44 percent from the field.
Averaging only 12 turnovers per game, the Hoosiers forced Ohio State into 15 turnovers leading to 14 fast break points.
In foul trouble most of the second half, Kaleb Wesson chipped in 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting, abusing the Hoosiers’ front court for most of the game.
For the Hoosiers, they struggled to make anything on the offensive end until the last few minutes of the game, making four threes in a row, after making only 2-of-14 prior, finishing 6-of-20 for the game.
Juwan Morgan failed to make much of an impact on the offensive end, going for just three points on 1-of-7 shooting, chipping in a career-high 14 rebounds.
The Hoosiers were led by Romeo Langford with 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting.
In the bonus for the final 11 minutes of the game, Indiana failed to take advantage of it, finishing with just seven free throw attempts for the entire game.
It was even more emphasized when Langford settled for a deep three with 12 seconds left, when Indiana was down only two points.
Devonte Green chipped in 10 points off the bench for the Hoosiers.
Indiana falls to 13-11 (4-9) on the season and are in desperation mode for the final weeks of the year. They travel to Minnesota on Saturday in a must win game.
