Indiana football has one of the best recruiters in the country, named in the recent Rivals top 25.

Assistant head coach and running backs coach, Mike Hart was recently named a top 25 recruiter according to Rivals.

The former Michigan running back has been with Indiana since 2017, and has developed into one of the best running back coaches in the Big Ten if not the entire country.

The biggest commitment Hart has played a major hand in, is the commitment flip from four-star running back Sampson James away from Ohio State back in October.

Hart blossomed quickly, as he coached the lone Power 5 freshman duo to rush for over 400 yards in 2017 – Morgan Ellison (704) and Cole Gest (428).

Recently he was named as a possible replacement at Notre Dame, for their running backs coach position, before staying with the Hoosiers.

Last season Hart was one of 53 nominees for the 2018 Broyles Award, honoring college football’s top assistant coaches.

Hart also has been a major part of the success of Stevie Scott, sophomore running back for the Hoosiers, who rushed for an Indiana true freshman record with 1,137 yards, 228 attempts, 10 touchdowns and six 100-yard games. Scott was also named Honorable mention All-Big Ten (coaches, media) and a two-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week (Virginia, Ball State).

Spending three years in the NFL, Hart spent time at Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan and Syracuse before joining the Hoosiers.

A four-year starter for the Wolverines, Hart set school career records for carries (1,015) and rushing yardage (5,040), and is third with 41 touchdowns.
