Indiana Basketball: Hoosiers stumble again at Rutgers

The Hoosiers falter in the second half, showing their lack of toughness once again in loss to Rutgers, as they lose their seventh straight game.

That is all it took for the Hoosiers to lose their seventh straight game and fall to 12-9 (3-7) on the season, after their 66-58 loss.

After the Hoosiers went up by 10 halfway through the first half, 29-19, Rutgers used a 27-3 run over the next 14 minutes to blow the game wide open, as Indiana went scoreless for over eight minutes.

Ranked 33rd in the country in rebounding, Rutgers dominated the boards, out rebounding the Hoosiers 45-31, including 13 offensive rebounds.

Rutgers was led by their duo of Geo Baker, who finished with 16 points and five assists, and Eugene Omoruyi, who added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Scarlet Knights who rank last in the Big Ten in every offensive points category, shot 41.7 percent from three.

Indiana was led by Romeo Langford who finished with 20 points, but it took him 20 attempts to get there.

Continuing their horrific three point shooting in conference, the Hoosiers shot 6-of-23 from deep, bringing their total to 25.4 percent from three in Big Ten play.

The lack of bench production, an issue for Indiana all season, showed again as the Hoosiers were outscored 19-2 from bench points.

Juwan Morgan chipped in 15 points, while Al Durham added 11.

Indiana falls to a three way tie for 10th in the Big Ten.

The road doesn’t get any easier for Indiana as they travel to East Lansing on Saturday to square off against No. 6 Michigan State, where ESPN College GameDay will be in attendance.
