Two Hoosiers’ signees land in the final Top247 rankings, as they lead one of the best recruiting classes in Indiana football history.
Arguably the best Indiana football recruiting class in program history, Tom Allen has two members of the 2019 recruiting class ranked inside the Top247 rankings.
Two four-star recruits, running back Sampson James and linebacker Cameron Williams, are the signees that finished ranked inside the Top247 for the Hoosiers.
Already enrolled at Indiana, James is ranked No. 183 nationally and the No. 10 ranked running back in the country. A graduate of Avon High School, James is also ranked the fourth best player the state of Indiana.
Choosing the Hoosiers over the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Florida State, Georgia, and Notre Dame, amongst many others, James rushed for 1,043 yards and 11 touchdowns during his senior year. For his high school career, he finished with 3,451 yards and 41 total touchdowns.
Here is the consensus scouting report on James heading into college.
"“Hard-nosed back who runs north-south with great effectiveness. Hits holes with very little hesitation and has the burst to get to top speed quickly. There is not a lot of wasted movement with him, he is not a dancer, and runs through a lot of tackles. Very effective as a pass blocker. Shows good awareness in picking up blitzes and is willing to be physical…”"
For the second Hoosier signee, Cameron Williams is ranked No. 212 in the nation, from Andrean High School.
The 6-foot-3 linebacker also ranked as the sixth ranked player in Indiana and the No. 16 outside linebacker nationally. Williams chose the Hoosiers over Purdue, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Syracuse, amongst a handful of other FBS and FCS schools.
With great speed, Williams can play multiple positions as his ability to change directions quickly is unlike most incoming freshman.
"Very lean build with long arms. Great track results for a linebacker….. Does a nice job of being disciplined, maintaining leverage and keeping contain. Can drop into coverage when asked. Still has a lot of room to add weight and strength. Projection is likely to depend on defensive scheme. He can play SAM in a 4-3 or might be a 3-4 outside backer as well. He has rare speed, and that should help him be an impact player in college."
Both players look to make immediate impacts for the Hoosiers in 2019 and lead a great recruiting class into Bloomington.
