Indiana Basketball: Update on 2021 forward Trey Kaufman
By Alec Lasley
The Hoosiers have another name on their recruiting board as interest for Trey Kaufman has increased as of late.
In what is a deep and talented 2021 recruiting class, the Hoosiers have their eyes set on Trey Kaufman, from Silver Creek.
Recently taking trips to both Indiana and Louisville, Kaufman holds offers from Indiana State and Evansville, as of now, but the Hoosiers are just one of the bigger schools in the midwest to take notice in his recent play.
Currently, Kaufman is averaging 16.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.7 blocks on the season, helping lead Silver Creek to a 12-2 record to start the season.
Kaufman had this to say regarding Indiana and the atmosphere inside Assembly Hall
"“It was amazing. I’ve been to a lot of colleges now, and that’s definitely the loudest place I’ve been to,” said Kaufman. “I got to sit right behind the bench, and I quickly noticed how physical everybody was. I was just imagining myself playing at that level.”"
The 6-foot-7 forward still has a lot of room to grow his game and body. Listed as only 200 pounds, Kaufman still needs to develop his body in order to play in the Big Ten.
With good intangibles, he is till learning to put them all together, as he is still very raw, but has sky-high potential. More of a face-up big at this stage, due to his lack of strength, his footwork is more advanced than many his age.
Though Kaufman is still in the early stages in his recruitment, the Hoosiers have him high on their list.
Trey Kaufman is a name to keep a look out for heading into his junior season, especially after another summer under his belt.
