Indiana Basketball: Hoosiers drop out of AP top 25
After losing two games last week, the Indiana Hoosiers dropped out of the new AP Top 25 poll released on Monday.
In a tough week that included a home loss to Nebraska and a loss at Mackey Arena to Purdue, the Indiana Hoosiers find themselves on the outside of the top 25 for the first time since December 7.
The Hoosiers’ slide has continued for a third straight week, with voters not considering them to be a top 25 team. The team is now on a four game skid with a tough week ahead of them, with Northwestern on Tuesday and Michigan coming to Bloomington on Friday.
If the Hoosiers can secure two much needed victories this week, they could find themselves back in top 25 consideration.
When Northwestern came to Bloomington on the first of December, the Hoosiers pulled out a close 68-66 victory. However, with the game being held in Evanston, the matchup should come down to the wire again. On Friday, the No. 5 Michigan Wolverines come to town. The last matchup, the Wolverines won in Ann Arbor by 11 points.
The other Big Ten teams in the AP Poll this week include: No. 5 Michigan, No.6 Michigan State, No. 13 Maryland, and No. 19 Iowa.
Purdue (111), Nebraska (66), and Wisconsin (64) were all Big Ten schools that received votes for the top 25.
The Louisville Cardinals, who the Hoosiers own a win over, jumped in the top 25 at No. 23, and Marquette moved up No. 12 in the rankings as well, another team that Indiana beat earlier in the season.
