The former Hoosiers running back was dismissed from the team back in October following an investigation.

Morgan Ellison, who was suspended then ultimately dismissed from the program back in October following a sexual assault investigation, announced where he would continue his college career.

Announcing it on his social media page, Ellison will spend next year at Independence (KS) Community College.

Independence College was chosen for last year’s “Last Chance U”, a documentary series on Netflix that follows schools who try to help troubled players find structure and get the chance of possibly playing Division 1 football again.

In his lone season at Indiana, Ellison led the team with 704 yards on 143 attempts with six touchdowns. He was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week twice (Georgia Southern and Rutgers), Indiana’s Offensive Newcomer of the Year, and honorable mention for the Big Ten All-Freshman team.

Some notable alumni of “Last Chance U” include John Franklin III (Auburn/FAU) and Dakota Allen (Texas Tech), and two current players who signed with power five D1 schools this offseason in Emmit Gooden (Tennessee) and Rakeem Boyd (Arkansas).

Though there have been success stories with certain players, there are a lot of “Last Chance U” alumni that have not made it back. With Ellison’s skill, I would expect him to find his way on another power five roster, but time will tell if coaches are ready to offer someone with a sexual assault investigation in their background.
