University of Florida wide receiver DaQuon Green recently announced that he is leaving the Gators’ program.

The Indiana Hoosiers may be receiving an additional weapon to their wide receiver corps next season.

DaQuon Green, former four-star recruit, recently announced he would be transferring from the University of Florida and has been open about his interest in the Hoosiers.

Green, who has a great connection to the Indiana coaching staff, had this to say to 247sports about his relationship with Hoosiers’ wide receiver coach Grant Heard.

"“My relationship with Coach Heard has been great ever since I was in high school,” he said. “After I put my name in the (transfer) portal I started to think about schools and I had forgot about Coach Heard, but then my head coach from high school had his number and he told me that Coach Heard wanted me to hit him up. I gave him a call and told him how I was doing and told him about my decision. He said that he was still interested in me and how much he wanted me to play for him when I was in high school.”"

Not only is Coach Heard the only one with a close relationship to the Florida native, but so is quarterback Michael Penix.

Both Penix and Green were teammates in high school at Tampa Bay Tech and Green expressed his interest in the possibility of teaming up again.

Green who has already started the transfer process, is just waiting to hear back regarding his transfer papers.

A member of Florida’s 2017 recruiting class, Green is looking to appeal to become immediately eligible and would have two years of eligibility remaining.

"“I am just looking for a chance to start over and show what I can do…. the belief he [Coach Heard] has in me just makes me feel even more confident about what I could do if I go there.”"

Green appeared in just one game for the Gators this year, finishing with one catch for three yards.
