So many changes this week for Indiana Football. This is really exciting news coming out of Bloomington. Tom Allen is handing over his duties.

As we all know Tom Allen was the defensive coordinator for the Indiana Football program before being promoted to the Head Coach in 2016. He has publicly stated how demanding that has been on him the last two seasons. News broke on Thursday of last week that Allen will be promoting linebackers coach Kane Wommack to defensive coordinator.

This is great news Hoosier Nation. Allen can finally focus more on his duties as the Head Coach and give the defensive reigns over to a young man who is just 31 years old. Wommack has had prior experience in this role. He served as a defensive coordinator for Eastern Illinois and South Alabama. Wommack will be great in his new role here at IU. He is a young minded coach we need to help grow these very talented athletes.

Looking ahead we can expect a much more focused Tom Allen. He can now do his due diligence as just the Head Coach. Which creates more time with his family, which also creates better production on the field. We need our head guy to have a clear mind going into each and every game in 2019. This team is still very young and will have a lot of growing up to do.

We can all rejoice in these huge coordinator changes. We put out a piece on how this program can improve and coordinators were top priority. This is a huge sigh of relief for all of us here at Hoosier State of Mind. We are so happy that we have a committed Head Coach who truly wants this program to succeed. Who else is excited to see all this young talent gel together next fall?
