Aljami Durham has been Indiana basketball’s most underrated player this season. Let’s dive in and see what he is all about.

Indiana basketball is one of the most prestigious college basketball programs of all time. Sophmore Aljami Durham has been an unsung hero for 2018. He has improved in every way this season. According to Pete DiPrimio of IUhoosiers.com, Durham is shooting 76.5% from the charity stripe.

That is an area where we need his veteran presence and leadership. Indiana basketball has struggled as a whole this season from the free throw line. Durham has apparently showed up in a even bigger way by being the best communicator on and off the court. Head Coach Archie Miller has really praised Durham’s communication this season.

Not only has Durham provided a veteran presence on this young team but he has also vastly improved from last season. His shooting percentage went from shooting 28.6% from beyond the arc to 42.9% this season. He is currently fourth in scoring this season.

DiPrimio also touched on how valuable Archie Miller thinks Durham is to this ball club. By saying he has always known he is a great leader and a great shooter. There are however some things he could work on. Like all athletes there are always places they can grow. Durham according to Miller needs to work on his unnecessary fouling, but adds that he is a big piece of the offense going forward.

Here at Hoosier State of Mind we think Durham brings that veteran presence to each game. Even if he played just eight games a season ago, Durham’s on-court experience helps in every little way to help freshman Romeo Langford and Robert Phinisee grow each game. This weeks Crossroads Classic should bring out the best in Durham. Maybe he can show off that long range ability once again.
