We continue our Indiana Basketball player profile series with Juwan Morgan.

Juwan Morgan has become that player that every successful team needs. You need a big man downlow that can control the boards. His senior leadership has shown in some really tough games this season. Winning close games is a testament of his leadership. Morgan has provided our Indiana Basketball team with a much needed backbone.

How has he done?

Morgan through 10 games in his senior season has averaged 15 points per game, shot 64% from the field, 43% from beyond the arc, 48% from the charity stripe, adding eight rebounds, two assists and one block per game this season. We think it’s safe to say Morgan is having a decent 10 game stretch. But can he keep it going? Not that his numbers are amazing, but they are helping this team have consistent stability in each game.

How can Morgan improve?

This first topic is one for the entire Indiana Hoosiers basketball team. We need to work on turnovers! Morgan averages two a game alongside Langford. Through all the good that Morgan provides, he can definitely work on his turnover ratio. His free throw percentage could also go up. We know the same old story for bigger players that struggle at the line. Morgan can improve his free throw shooting, he has the talent. 50% isn’t good enough.

Where do we see Morgan going forward?

We see Morgan improving even more on his leadership role as we get into the meat of the season. His field goal percentage is honestly not that bad at all, considering he shoots more high percentage shots. Morgan is a monster on the boards. We see that trending up as well. He will only improve as the season goes along. When Big Ten play is in full swing I think we will see the very best out of him.
