Indiana Hoosiers vs Penn State: What to expect
By Dylan Broady
The Indiana Hoosiers will have another Big Ten matchup against the Penn State Nittany Lions.
What can we expect from IU?
We can expect IU to play hard no matter the outcome. This is a huge game for our Hoosiers. We need as many Big Ten wins as possible. This is a very winnable game and Romeo Langford should score over 20 points in this matchup. We can expect Juwan Morgan to play as long as he is healthy. We don’t know a whole lot about his late game injury against Northwestern.
We are crossing our fingers that he travels with the team and suits up against Penn State. We need all the help we can get. Injuries have already plagued us this season. We are only eight games in and we haven’t been able to attain any chemistry offensively. We have done a remarkable job at putting together winning strategies and Langford has hit some big time shots for us.
We can expect our Hoosiers to come out strong in what should be a tough road matchup. Last season the game was won by James Blackmon’s buzzer beater. This game will be close unfortunately unless the Hoosiers can find a way to hit some big shots early and pull away. We should win this game nonetheless and go 2-0 in Big Ten play this season.
What can we expect from Penn State?
Well we can expect forward Lamar Stevens to have a big impact once again for his team. Stevens has been a scoring machine for the Nittany Lions this season. IU must find a way to slow him down or this game will be just like last season’s thriller. Stevens will look to lead his team to a huge home win in front of their home crowd.
Penn State comes into this game 4-3 and 0-1 in Big Ten play. We can expect them to come out playing hard to get their fans into the game to try and disrupt our young backcourt early. Guard Josh Reaves has been inconsistent this season but still plays a significant role in this teams offense. They did beat Virginia Tech 63-62.
We know this team can ball. IU needs to be prepared and not overlook this matchup. The Hoosiers will play host to the Louisville Cardinals this Saturday afternoon and we can’t allow ourselves to fall into this trap game on the road.
Prediction: IU 77 Penn State 68
