The Indiana Hoosiers won a close game and advanced to 7-0 continuing their undefeated campaign.

The Indiana Hoosiers women’s basketball team went to Southern California and earned a huge road victory against the UCLA Bruins. This is what we learned from their big win on Sunday.

The Hoosiers were lead by Ali Patberg and Jaelynn Penn. Both came up huge for the Hoosiers. Penn hit a huge 3-pointer with .29 seconds left to give Indiana a 65-64 lead assisted by Patberg. Both helped ice the game from the charity stripe. The Hoosiers are now 7-0. This was a huge win for us. Patberg almost had a triple double adding nine rebounds and eight assists.

We could sit here and type up all the stats from the game. What we want to do is focus on how important this 7-0 start is for the Indiana Hoosiers women’s program. After winning the WNIT last season we needed a great start for our 2018 campaign. Tyra Buss is and always will be a Hoosier legend. Ali Patberg has so far filled in those huge shoes that she has left behind.

We can’t leave out Jaelynn Penn or Brenna Wise when talking about huge contributors to this team. We have all the makings of being something great this year. We want more than just a WNIT ring. We want the big dance, we want to prove we are one of the top teams in the nation. We are Hoosiers. We are Indiana, and this season is special for not only this team but for all of Hoosier Nation.

Take pride and get behind your women’s team. They are balling their hearts out and they deserve our support and admiration. They have heart and true grit. That’s what we really learned today. We learned what this team is capable of. We have a lot to look forward to as we look ahead to Wednesday’s dog fight with undefeated Butler.
